-Bringing home your new goat

PRIOR TO PICKUP

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold any animal at Hoggy Doggy Farms.  All dam raised kids will be ready for their new farms at 8+ weeks of age.  Kids will be given both CD&T shots (vaccination for Clostridium perfringens type C + D and tetanus) before leaving.  Kids will be handled daily to promote a healthy relationship with people and a tutorial for hoof trimming is provided upon pickup.

BASIC CARE

As herd animals, goats must go to a farm with other goats, or bought in a pair.  When introducing your goat to an established herd, it is recommended to keep him/her separate but within eye sight of the herd for 24 hours.  If a separate dry lot or grazing area is not available, please do not leave your goat unattended as the animals establish their pecking order.  Taking these precautions will avoid injury to your new friend.

All kids will be on a pasture and hay diet only upon leaving Hoggy Doggy Farms.  If you choose to offer grain, give in extremely small quantities and increase amounts very slowly.  Always offer fresh water, dry hay, free choice goat mineral (Link to what we use below) and baking soda to ensure a healthy goat!
